An Earache For All
There are still roughly 1,500 active volcanoes today. This is a scary fact since we can never predict when they’ll erupt. One of the most violent volcanic eruptions took place in 1883. The eruption of Krakatoa in the Sunda Strait was so baffling that it ruptured the eardrums of sailors over 40 miles away. When the eruption ended, the volcano blew nearly demolished itself.
The eruption was so loud that people could hear it from 3,000 miles away. Black dust came shooting out of the volcano and reached over 27 kilometers high, making the sky significantly darker for several years after.
