Indian Bull Surfing
India is a massive country with a wide variety of activities to offer, depending on the part of the country one is visiting. The village of Anandapally is landlocked, but the people found a creative, alternative way to “surf” without an ocean. Every harvest season, festivities for the sport of bull surfing are held.

A yolk bull handler surfs a wooden plank while hanging onto nothing but the two bull’s harnesses or their tails! The two yolk bulls run in ankle-deep water, plowing the football-size rice fields as they go. As you can imagine, this thrilling tradition is dangerous and best left to the professionals! No one wants to get in the way of a bull!
