The Solah Shringer
The Solah Shringer refers to the sixteen adornments the Indian bride must carry/wear at their wedding from head to toe. The tradition is a very ancient and sentimental ritual Hindu women perform to prepare for the bliss of marriage. Sometimes, women do it to prepare for festivals and important religious occasions as well.
They start by placing a red and white bindi assortment of sticker gems on the forehead. She’s covered from head to toe in jewels and bangles. One other important centerpiece is drawing henna on the hands and feet, as well as the large, circular nosering. Her husband marks her parted hair with red, which is akin to giving a wedding band.
