Presidents of the United States and Their Beloved Pets

Benjamin Harrison’s most memorable pet was Old Whiskers, a goat who pulled his grandchildren around the White House lawn in a cart. The goat became a favorite sight in Washington, delighting children and visitors. Harrison’s family also had a collie named Dash, who added a loyal canine presence.

These pets showcased the Harrison family’s warmth and playfulness. Old Whiskers in particular captured imaginations, with stories of him pulling the cart at high speeds. Together, Old Whiskers and Dash turned the White House into a lively family setting, making Harrison’s presidency feel approachable during a time of rapid national change.
