#13: Lion Air Flight 610 (2018)
Shortly after takeoff from Jakarta, the Boeing 737 MAX began showing faulty speed and altitude readings. An automated system forced the nose down repeatedly while the crew tried to fight for control. Just 13 minutes into the flight, the jet plunged into the Java Sea, killing all 189 people onboard.

The crash revealed serious flaws in Boeing’s new flight control system, MCAS, which pilots had not been properly trained on. It sparked outrage at Boeing and regulators, and within months, the 737 MAX was at the center of a global scandal. The aircraft would later be grounded worldwide.
