Break On Through
In the vibrant era of the late 1960s, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison reigned as the uncontested queen and king of rock. Morrison, The Doors’ charismatic frontman, was so smitten with Joplin that he was determined to win her over. One fateful evening at a glitzy bash in Hidden Hills, Los Angeles, as Janis was about to vanish into the night with record mogul Paul Rothschild, Morrison audaciously yanked at her hair, attempting to extract her from the vehicle.
In a fit of primal instinct, Joplin seized a bottle of Southern Comfort and brought it crashing down on Morrison’s head, sending him sprawling on the floor, unconscious. Yet, this dynamic display of fervor didn’t sway Morrison’s admiration for her. Post-incident, he proclaimed, “An extraordinary woman, absolutely terrific!” His obsession with Joplin only intensified after her audacious act. Joplin, however, remained unimpressed by the Lizard King’s antics and rebuffed Rothschild’s attempt to pass on her number. The duo never found common ground again.
