#4: The Hill Have Eyes
Set Piece: Gas Haven Gas Station
Location: Ouarzazate, Morocco, USA
Production Budget: $15 million*
This movie by Alexandre Aja is seriously scary stuff. If you want to know what horror is all about, this is it. Pretty much, a family on a trip in the US is getting caught by crazy cannibals. You can imagine how that goes…
Wes Craven said the movie was inspired by Sawney Bean, a guy from Scotland who did some seriously gruesome stuff in the Middle Ages. Legend has it they lived near a spooky road where travelers vanished. The movie takes us to Morocco, where they filmed “The Mummy.” There’s this eerie gas station where the family hears about a shortcut.
