#30: The “Bait” Phenomenon – The Oscars
The term “Oscar bait” refers to movies that are intentionally designed to win Academy Awards. These films often feature a serious or tragic subject, with heavy dramatic performances and a strong focus on social or historical issues.

Classic examples include The King’s Speech (2010) and The Theory of Everything (2014), which were made to earn Oscar nominations. While not all of these films win, the Oscars have developed a reputation for favoring these types of films.
