#15: Somewhat of a Father Figure
After witnessing Annie’s incredible marksmanship, Sitting Bull was so captivated that he sent $65 to her hotel, simply hoping for an autograph. Flattered by the gesture, Annie returned the money and a signed photograph, a display of humility that deeply moved him.

Touched by her kindness, he insisted on adopting her as his own. He gifted her his prized moccasins and bestowed the Lakota name Watanya Cicilla, meaning Little Sure Shot. When Sitting Bull briefly joined Buffalo Bill’s troupe the following year, he grew even closer to Annie, whom he fondly described as a dear and faithful friend.
