#28: Julie Christie, The Beginning
His age: 30
Julie Christie was at the height of her international fame when she and Warren Beatty met in 1967 while making Shampoo. Christie, already an Oscar winner for Darling, embodied intelligence, independence, and political seriousness — qualities Beatty increasingly valued as he moved toward more creative control.

Their meeting coincided with Beatty’s evolution from star to auteur. Christie was not impressed by Hollywood mythology and challenged him intellectually. What began as attraction quickly became companionship, grounded in shared politics, artistic ambition, and a mutual skepticism toward conventional success.
